at this moment (I know, it is in progress) there are multiple conventions used mbp> ls realtime/bin/* realtime/bin/glnx86: buffer.glnx86 ctf_acq2ft ctf_acq2ftx ctf_check_shm playback.glnx86 ctf_AcqBuffer ctf_acq2ft_fake ctf_acq2ftx_fake ctf_fake_meg recording.glnx86 realtime/bin/glnxa64: biosemi2ft ctf_acq2ftx libtia.so.1.0.0 rda2ft tia2ft.sh buffer.glnxa64 ctf_acq2ftx_fake modeeg2ft recording.glnxa64 ctf_AcqBuffer ctf_check_shm modeeg2ft_2chn thinkgear2ft ctf_acq2ft ctf_fake_meg modeeg_setupbluesmirf thinkgear2ft.glnxa64 ctf_acq2ft_fake libtia.so.1 playback.glnxa64 tia2ft realtime/bin/maci: biosemi2ft.maci ctf_acq2ftx.maci liblabview_dll.dylib rda2ft.maci buffer.maci ctf_acq2ftx_fake.maci modeeg2ft.maci recording.maci ctf_AcqBuffer.maci ctf_check_shm.maci modeeg2ft_2chn.maci thinkgear2ft.maci ctf_acq2ft.maci ctf_fake_meg.maci modeeg_setupbluesmirf.maci ctf_acq2ft_fake.maci labview_dll.ini playback.maci realtime/bin/maci64: buffer.maci64 modeeg2ft_2chn.maci64 playback.maci64 recording.maci64 modeeg2ft.maci64 modeeg_setupbluesmirf.maci64 rda2ft.maci64 realtime/bin/win32: Labview_DLL.dll labview_dll.ini recording.exe MatlabNetComClient.dll libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll siemens_gui_buffer_client.exe PortAudio.dll libstdc++-6.dll siemens_gui_streamer.exe audio2ft.exe modeeg2ft.exe siemens_nii_to_buffer.exe biosemi2ft.exe modeeg2ft_2chn.exe siemens_opengl_client.exe biosemi_config.txt modeeg_setupbluesmirf.exe siemens_pixeldata_to_remote_buffer.exe buffer.exe neurosky_config.txt siemens_save_as_nifti.exe edk.dll nlx2ft.exe thinkgear2ft.exe edk_utils.dll playback.exe tmsi2ft.exe emotiv2ft.exe pthreadGC2.dll tmsidriver.exe emotiv_config.txt rda2ft.exe realtime/bin/win64: Labview_DLL64.dll -------- I think it makes sense to drop all file extensions (except for exe), because they do not co-occur any more and the bin/xxx contains the platform.

another cleanp thing to consider: should teh following be in the repository and the zip-file release? mbp> ll buffer/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x 8 robert staff 272 Jun 26 17:03 cpp drwxr-xr-x 15 robert staff 510 Jun 26 17:03 src drwxr-xr-x 9 robert staff 306 Jun 26 17:03 test it contains all object files, but at this moment it is not even clear for which platform.

Good point. I agree it is best to use .exe on windows, and no extension on Linux and OSX. I can't find the object files you mention in the repository. Are you sure they are in the SVN repository? I had them on my disk as well as a by-product of building, but $ find realtime/ -name "*.o" | xargs svn info showed that they are not revision controlled. Somehow, 'svn-clean' did not remove them.

(In reply to comment #2) the directory with all object files is indeed not part of svn, but merely the locally compiled stuff that svn did not delete when I updates
