it would be great if selected channels have a common masked region that it would be highlighted in the singleplot as well. different grey intensities could be used to indicate how many channels are masked at that location (i.e. dark grey = all channels, light grey = few channels).

Computing the average mask over channel dimensions for selected channels (in the callback), and given that as an input to cfg.maskparameter should be able to do this I think. (ft_plot_matrix supports it I think)
