1) use ft_selectdata to make the input arguments consistent for ft_appendtimelock 2) add this functionality to ft_appendfreq

OK, I updated ft_appendtimelock (and test_ft_appendtimelock), but cannot commit ATM, will do so once the cluster behaves normal again.
